The government will hold a major goods exhibition later this month when products from the Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations and Related Techniques, or Support Foundation, of Her Majesty the Queen are put on display and sale side by side with outstanding collections of goods from the One Tambon One Product (OTOP) Project.

The exhibition will be held from 21-27 February 2012 at the IMPACT Arena, Muang Thong Thani complex. Spokesperson to the Prime Minister’s Office Thitima Chaisang said Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra announced the planned exposition at the Cabinet meeting this week and informed the meeting that Her Majesty the Queen has graciously named the exposition in Thai as ‘Silapacheep PrateepThai OTOP Kao Klai Therd Thai Ong Rajini’ (SUPPORT Thailand’s light, OTOP’s evolution in honor of Her Majesty).

Prime Minister Yingluck will preside over the opening ceremony of the exposition on 21 February. Both SUPPORT Foundation and the OTOP project share a similar aspect in that they encourage farmers and local labor to use free time from their seasonal careers like paddy farming and fisheries to earn extra income for their family. These people use a blend of skills in handicraft-making, creativity and neatness to create an item that is called a masterpiece.
